Robin needs to share her bio!
Born in Kentucky and raised in Miami, Jack is the only board member, other than Robin, who knew Richard Phillips. He retired from Miami Fire/Rescue in 2008 when he moved up to Grant Valkaria where he lives with fellow board member Kathy Ansbro. He has three grown children who live in different areas of Florida and has five beautiful grandchildren. He spends a good deal of his time doing yard work, home projects and cooking good food. His motto is “I cook… I know things and I can fix anything!” Having known Richard and being a long time friend of Robin’s, he proudly accepted when she asked him to be a part of the RPDBF and help her to make it grow. As an avid rider, he very much believes in the mission. His superpower: The ability to nap anywhere including during live music performances.
Born and raised in Westchester County NY, Kathy moved to Sebastian, FL in July 2008. She has 2 adult children, one living in NY and one living in GA. She loves to sing and travel and is a travel advisor. Now living in Grant Valkaria with fellow board member Jack Chambers she loves their adventures! She is always ready with a smile and a hug and is definitely a “people person” with an outgoing personality. She was asked to be part of the Richard Phillips Down Biker Fund by Robin when she took the helm in 2017 so she is one of the original board members. She believes wholeheartedly in the mission and is humbled by the community support the RPDBF receives from riders and non-riders alike. “It touches my heart when we visit a recipient with a check. To see someone who’s been through a traumatic experience go from disbelief to a visible relief is something I will carry with me for the rest of my days.” Kathy as well as the other board members hopes that people from other areas will see the need for an organization such as ours and start something similar in their own communities.
I grew up in Florida on motorcycles from mini to dirt, and now a 2003 Cruiser. I'm a retired owner operator flatbed driver but still work full time during the week. I have six grands, two great grands and my heart overflows. The RPDBF is dear to my heart. I've spent over 2yrs as a volunteer and then Robin gave me the honor of joining the Board. I love our Biker Community and I absolutely love giving back when there's a need. I believe in the cause and our community!
I’m originally from Pittsburgh, so naturally I’m a rabid Steeler & Penguin fan. My husband and I both grew up there. We moved to Florida (Ft Pierce) in 1995 and have never regretted it for a second!
I grew up in a family filled with music and motorcycles.
All three of our Sons served in the Marine Corps, as did I! Yes, we’re obnoxiously proud of them all.
Dave & I were out riding our Harleys one day & I remembered that the RPDBF was set up nearby. We popped in, hung out, listened to the band and as we were leaving, I told Robin “If you ever have an opening on the board, please think about me!” …. And she DID! The rest is history.
Part of the reason I’m so passionate about this group is because of what happened to Robin & Richard. When she told me of Richards death, I was devastated for her & their family. I cannot imagine what they went through.
I’ve gone with Robin and Skittles to give checks to families and It’s a very humbling experience. It could happen to any of us! I gladly help with this group because it could be me! Having enough money to buy dinner or pay the electric bill takes just a little bit of stress off the accident victim or their family. Who wouldn’t want to help do that?
Twice, since I’ve been on the board, I’ve met people out and about, only to find out that they’ve been the recipients of the communities enormous generosity! It’s very humbling to hear how it helped and how grateful they are for that help.
If I could say anything at all, I’d like to say please give. We don’t care if you only have a dollar to give. That’s still one more dollar that we can give to someone who desperately needs it. We do this because we want to ease the burden, even, if it’s just a little bit. We do this because when Robin lost her beloved Richard Phillips, there was no one to do it for her.

After I moved to Sebastian I met some amazing people that I now call my friends, Robin being one of them. After her husband passed, she wanted to start a Biker fund in his name and was not able to at that time. When I heard what she was trying to do, I reached out and said "no worries, let me help you start your dream" and that is how I became part of the RFDBF family.

As a devoted mother and passionate music lover, I balance family life with my commitment to supporting others. My involvement with a nonprofit dedicated to aiding downed bikers, named in honor of my late stepfather, holds deep personal significance. Through my work on the board, I am determined to drive meaningful change by enhancing our support for injured bikers and their families. My goal is to expand our outreach and resources, ensuring that we provide crucial assistance and build a stronger, more resilient community for those facing challenging times.

After retiring from Ford Motor Company in Michigan in 2017, I established Florida as my permanent residence in 2020. I have been riding since the age of eight, progressing from mini bikes to dirt bikes, and now to street bikes. Robin dedicates her heart and soul to the Richard Phillips Down Biker Fund, and I was genuinely moved to learn that this remarkable charity was established following a tragic event. Since joining the volunteer team, the most impactful moments have been when presenting checks to accident victims or their families and witnessing their gratitude, reaffirming that there are truly compassionate individuals in our community. This initiative would not be possible without the support of all involved. I take great pride in being a volunteer.
